MAILBOX INFO

The W8FW-1 is a "EXPERIMENTAL" Mailbox put on by The Miami County Amateur Radio Club. The Mailbox has recently been upgraded, and is now on air 24/7. The purpose of this Mailbox is to determine if there is any interest with Packet Radio operation in Miami County.

W8FW-1 is very small and simple. The system runs 1200 baud packet using a PK232 TNC with only 18KB RAM storage. The system transmits an ID Beacon every 5 minutes it is on the air listening. Please let me know if your interested in packet radio. I may consider upgrading the system if there is enough interest.

Please feel free to send a message, or list any NTS traffic for the Miami County area on this mailbox. Thank you and 73s, David E. Robinson WB8PMG

DARA VE Testing

Due to popular demand, the DARA VE team has scheduled an exam session at
the DARA clubhouse, 6619 Bellefontaine Rd, Huber Heights on Wednesday,
August 20, at 7:0pm.

All three (tech, general and extra) elements will be offered.
Pre-registration is only required if special accommodations are needed.
Walk-ins are welcome. There is no charge for DARA VE team exams.

Applicants must supply a completed 605 form. This form will be available
at the test. Applicants must also show proof of identity with a
government issued photo ID (i.e. driver's license). Applicants
upgrading an amateur license must show the original of their current
license and provide us a photo copy to file. Applicants presenting any
other documentation for credit (such as a CSCE or letter from the FCC)
should bring the original for us to see and a photocopy for us to file.

Note: the 605 form requires the entry of either the applicant's Social
Security Number (SSN) or FCC Registration Number (FRN). If you don't
have a SSN or don't want to provide it, you may visit the FCC website
and apply for a FRN at www.fcc.gov/uls
